Review of leisure craft market

The marine leisure boat building market has suffered since the global financial crisis started in 2008.
We undertook research for a major client interested in finding out if the leisure boat market was recovering and whether investment in the sector would be a viable business proposition. With a strong understanding of the marine leisure and workboat markets worldwide, we were ideally placed to undertake this research within the tight timeframe specified by the client.

Earlier FMI research in this sector helped provide a benchmark against which to compare changes to boat building output, demand and market sentiment. Our international industry contacts were used to collect primary data through telephone interviews across the region. A broad range of industry representatives were willing to work with us on a confidential basis. These included vessel owners, marina managers and shipyards. We also carried out economic analysis and forecasting as part of the study.

This is a First Marine International project
