Situation

The Water Corporation for Western Australia is responsible for the supply of drinking water in Western Australia. One of its production plants, the Neerabup groundwater treatment plant, supplies part of the area around Perth with drinking water. A renovation and extension of the treatment plant, which should also include a softening stage, was considered necessary.

Crystalactor Neerabup Australia

Assignment

Neerabup Groundwater Pellet Softening

The Project

The pellet softening stage comprises of 6 reactors, each with a square cross section of 3.2 m x 3.2 m and height of 8 m. A special feature in the reactor design is the way the reactor bottoms are constructed.

Crystalactor Technology

Neerabup is the first Crystalactor softening plant in which the filter bottoms are made of concrete instead of steel.
