About the Crystalactor for fluoride recovery in Seoul, South Korea

Hankook Filter Co. provides services and solutions for waste water treatment in the Republic of South Korea. The company recognised the added value of Crystalactor™ for Phosphate and Fluoride removal and were awarded to supply a Crystalactor to STX Solar Co. Ltd. (since 2014 E&R Solar) for removal of Fluoride from its industrial waste water.

The waste water is originating from the solar panel manufacturing plant of STX and contains Fluoride components, originating from etching with HF. In order to make the water suitable for re-use, either as cooling tower make up or general cleaning purposes, the Fluoride should be removed. The average Fluoride concentration of the influent of the Crystalactor is 289mg/l, the target of the effluent is below 15 mg/l. The Crystalactor effluent can be sent to its users without additional post-treatment.

The project

Royal HaskoningDHV supplied Hankook Filter a Basic Engineering Package for the Crystalactor for Fluoride removal. This package contained amongst others a Process Description, Basic Engineering documents (such as PFD, P&ID's, drawings and specifications), Main Equipment Duty Specifications and General Description Control Philosophy. Based on this package, Hankook Filter was able to complete the detailed design. Royal HaskoningDHV also assisted with the procurement, commissioning and start-up of the installation. Some critical components were supplied by Royal HaskoningDHV.
