What you do as a Engineer or Project Manager

You will undertake engineering projects related to maritime work such as ports, harbours, and civil works. You will initiate, manage and supervise maritime engineering assignments on projects that meet project requirements on time and within budget. You will consult and liaise with colleagues to share information, lessons learnt, innovative approaches to problem solving, and the like.  Identify issues / problems and develop appropriate and innovative solutions, involving other staff inputs as needed.

Haskoning Australia which is a company in Royal HaskoningDHV delivers tailor made engineering and scientific solutions to our clients across Australia, the Pacific and South East Asia.  We are experts in the maritime, river, estuarine and coastal sectors, providing consultancy advice and civil and structural design services to clients in a number of sectors.

Due to increased demand we are now seeking a full time permanent Engineer or Project Manager to join our team. This position can be based out of Darwin. You will play a key role in growing our business by supporting the development of the client base and delivery of exciting projects throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region. 


What you bring


  • Effective technical and practical engineering skills in structural or civil engineering or project management.
  • Familiarity with key industry guidelines, codes and specifications.
  • Achievement of financial and business targets.
  • Client liaison and development, with a high level of care to client satisfaction and relationship building.
  • Direct and advise on technical matters, teach, mentor and manage project teams.
  • Able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills, including hosting/facilitating meetings/workshops.
  • Excellent self-management skills, and experience in small leading team.
  • Confident.
  • Team Leader and a Team Player.
  • Independent thinker.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Personable.
  • Contribute to the growth of the business by identifying opportunities.

Qualification and Experience:


  • Civil or Structural Engineering Degree (or equivalent).
  • Excellent proficiency with reading, writing and speaking in English.
  • 7-15 years’ experience in consulting.
  • Experience with writing proposals, planning and running of small to medium projects.


  • Chartered with a professional engineering institution is an advantage.
  • Extracurricular industry involvement (e.g. PIANC) is an advantage.
  • Background and specialisation in Maritime Engineering is an advantage.
  • Experience in digital engineering or coding is an advantage.
