Tidal and wave technologies developed in the UK are eminently applicable globally and the industry is already starting to develop new projects in countries such as Canada, South America, Europe, Australasia and the Far East.

Royal HaskoningDHV has worked in the sector for 10 years. In this time we have provided support to a number of milestone UK projects including:

  • The world’s first grid connected tidal turbine – SeaGen, Marine Current Turbines
  • The world’s first consented tidal array project - Islay Array, Scottish Power Renewables
  • The world’s first wave array project – Lewis wave array, Aquamarine Power
  • We recently submitted the consent application for the world’s first tidal array demonstration site- Perpetuus Tidal Energy Centre (PTEC).

While Royal HaskoningDHV is best known for EIA and consenting successes, we provide a range of engineering, project support and financial consultancy services.

Royal HaskoningDHV have been in the forefront of the wave and tidal industry for since its earliest days. We offer sector leading expertise in project development, EIA and consent support with technical and engineering support services.

Over the last 10 years we have developed a close relationship with many of the UK’s leading developers, including Siemens; Aquamarine Power, SSE and most recently the Perpetuus Tidal Energy Centre. We are becoming increasingly active in the global markets, in Canada and South America and Asia.
