About Oissery Nereda® WWTP – France

Oissery is a commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the North East of Paris, France. 

The challenge

Royal HaskoningDHV, with its French partner Sources SA, has implemented its second Nereda technology project in France. The client and operator, Communauté de communes Plaines et Monts de France (CCPMF), required a 11,700 p.e. wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), to treat the sewage water from the municipalities of Oissery and Saint-Pathus. The existing plant dated back to 1984, so it required a major upgrade and refurbishment to meet the needs of an increased population and more stringent effluent targets. A solution was required that also minimised the visual and environmental impact.  

The solution

Sources selected Nereda technology for its tender for this project, as it considered this the most sustainable and cost-effective treatment solution meeting CCPMF’s requirements. Three Nereda reactors have been designed to treat the peak flow of 282 m³/hour and meet the effluent requirements without dosing of chemicals. The Nereda technology provides a very compact and integrated solution at Oissery. The WWTP at Oissery follows on from the implementation of Nereda technology at the Fleury site. The process configuration will comprise pre-treatment, Nereda process and disc filtration, with a peak flow of 282 m³/h.

The outcome

Nereda technology is already being applied to wastewater treatment facilities on five continents, for both municipal and industrial water. The second Nereda project in France continues the technology’s establishment as the go-to solution for wastewater management. The combination of the partnerships’ expertise and Sources’ local knowledge is proving to be an effective one. The project features a sympathetic design, which softens the plant’s visual impact on the rural landscape. This joint project maintains the ongoing roll-out of Nereda technology in France, ensuring the delivery of excellent and sustainable treatment solutions, whilst minimising environmental impacts.
