With this in mind, Waterschap Vechtstromen selected Nereda® technology for the new plant at Tubbergen. The technology has already been installed at two of its other WWTPs – Vroomshoop and Vriezenveen – providing the confidence to invest in the technology again. Once complete, the Nereda plant will have the capacity to treat the wastewater of approximately 20,000 people equivalent. The wastewater will come from Tubbergen, Geesteren, Langeveen, Manderveen, Vasse and Bruinehaar. Tubbergen WWTP will treat 2.5 million litres of wastewater per day to the high standards required to enable it to be flowed back into the Markgraven, a natural brook in this rural and green area of the Netherlands.

In addition to the high effluent standards, Nereda technology offers improved energy efficiency and the potential to recover valuable resources from the waste sludge in the future. 

The overall cost of the project is €625,000, and the construction is expected to start in 2023. The plant is scheduled to be complete and ready for start-up in 2024.
