Society can only be served when all stakeholders act ethically and adhere to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact. Therefore, we’ve long embedded these in our daily business through our Global Code of Business Principles.

Having been an Active Participant since 2008, we submitted our yearly Communication on Progress 2021 to the United Nations Global Compact. In this report we describe actions and policies related to human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption and include measurements. Below some highlights. 

Human rights 

To increase the knowledge about human rights, we have created a guidance document to inform our employees what human rights are, what kind of human rights exist, how international enterprises can be involved in human rights and what is expected of our company specifically to protect human rights of all people involved in a project.  

Labour 

We apply the conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and comply with the Modern Slavery Act. We have an HR system in place to create transparency and equal career opportunities, and equality, diversity and inclusion are key values in our company. In 2021, we held a Speak Up Awareness Day in our drive for a collaborative, equal environment. 

Environment 

In 2021, we developed our new strategy Stronger25 in which we take responsibility for having a positive impact on the world by challenging ourselves and others to develop sustainable solutions. We aim to deliver measurable impact, focussing on five themes where we believe we can have the biggest impact for society and the environment. In 2021 we also committed to net zero by 2030. 

Anti-corruption 

Integrity and anti-corruption are key to our business and (moral) license to operate. We have zero tolerance towards corruption. This vision is translated in and safeguarded by our Compliance Integrity Management System. In 2021, integrity, anti-corruption and anti-bribery were continuously promoted and communicated internally. 

Sustainable Development Goals 

In 2021 we set our 5 Enhancing Society Together themes: climate change; biodiversity & natural systems; resources & circularity; social value & equality; safety & well-being. These themes are relevant to everything we do – for our people and our clients, the way we operate as an organisation, and how we implement our projects. They will also be the fundament to report on our impact and progress, and relate to UN Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17.
