Royal HaskoningDHV co-authors report calling for a safe and healthy mobility strategy for UK roads

Transport Planning Lead at Royal HaskoningDHV, Sarah Simpson, has co-authored a report calling for the government to deliver a safe and healthy mobility strategy and action plan for UK roads.
Safer roads for cycling

The report provides a framework for UK roads to help improve safety, and even outlines priority actions that will progress the UK towards fewer deaths from road crashes.

The report ‘Safe Roads for All’ was prepared collaboratively by leading UK road safety and mobility experts and organisations.

It proposes a government leadership structure, headline safety performance framework, and priority actions such as:

  • Goals, targets and performance indicators
  • Functional hierarchy for roads and road investment
  • Vehicle safety standards
  • Improved roads policing and reviewed legal framework
  • Best practice to help road victims

Safe Roads for All also supports important and welcome government strategies to help deliver safety, health, sustainability and prosperity for people, the economy, the nation and the planet.

Sarah Simpson

The strategy that this report calls for could make our roads and urban spaces more safe, healthy and enjoyable places to live – while also preventing thousands of deaths and catastrophic injuries currently seen on roads today.

Sarah continues: "It was a privilege to be a co-author of this report, that I hope will further an important debate around the UK’s road network – contributing to a real shift in our approach to safe and healthy mobility going forward.''
