Hot humid climate creates challenge for chocolate decorations

Dobla is an international supplier of premium chocolate products. The company contracted Royal HaskoningDHV to provide full engineering consultancy services for its new manufacturing site in the port city of Vung Tau in south Vietnam. Vung Tau has a tropical climate with a hot, humid environment and average temperatures above 25°C. 

These are challenging conditions for producing delicate chocolate decorations. As a result, the design of temperature and humidity controls were central to the success of the facility. The conditions also placed pressure on mechanical and electrical equipment, for example standard filters used in ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) would not have withstood the production climate. Equally, piping and socket outlets needed to tolerate high condensation levels. 

Bespoke solutions provide high-quality climate control at the facility 

Our solution involved designing bespoke systems for air cooling and mechanical ventilation, as well as HVAC, to provide high-quality climate control. Materials, filters and humidity devices were all carefully selected to ensure durability. Air-flow models resulted in a design which controlled the temperature of the transfer bridge. 

Our mechanical and electrical solutions and aesthetically pleasing design have resulted in a distinctive production facility which overcomes the challenging climate conditions. Besides, the facility meets international standards for hygiene and quality.
