De Ooivaar

Cruise boats sail up the Zaan river from the IJ and moor alongside the windmill "De Ooivaar" in Zaandijk. A comfortable jetty takes the visitor in one swing under the Juliana bridge to the southern entrance of the Zaanse Schans.

The design of the jetty fits seamlessly with the design of the Juliana Bridge that we designed in 2006. The design is subdued and respectful of the historical surroundings, but is deliberately not historicizing. With an elegant swing, the board deck lies in a corset of steel ribs, goes under the bridge and along the slope of the approach ramp.

Dynamic handrail

The handrail is dynamic in shape and varies in height so that it offers the visitor support where necessary and space where possible. In the evening, the entire jetty is illuminated from the stainless-steel handrail tube.
