Master planning for Doha New Port in Qatar
The New Port Project in Doha, Qatar, has a construction value of approximately US$ 7 billion. Developed in multiple phases, it includes three container terminals with a combined annual capacity of six million containers. Handling facilities will include general cargo, vehicles, livestock and bulk grain. The port basin will be 17m deep, allowing access for the world’s largest container vessels.

The Doha New Port Project Steering Committee contracted WorleyParsons with Royal HaskoningDHV to develop detailed design and specifications as well as technical tender support on the New Port Project.
The project also includes the construction of a Qatar Emiri Naval Forces base, coastguard base and a port marine unit for tugs and port vessels.
Our responsibilities have included input into master planning, dredging and excavation, site formation, breakwaters and revetments, 8km of quay walls, navigational aids and VTS, port security and port equipment. The terminal design also includes a state of the art power distribution system with nine substations, and includes provision for power supply to container vessels (cold ironing).
As one of the largest greenfield port developments in the world, this project involved the input of a large multi-disciplinary team built across our business and areas of expertise.
