Our client is a multinational sports and leisure company. It has been upgrading its European headquarters in the Netherlands to align the campus more closely with its brand values, ensuring the working environment is inspiring, innovative and healthy. We provided expertise across multiple disciplines while working proactively to ensure the new campus optimally meets our client’s ambitions, particularly through smart and healthy buildings.

Expert support across design and delivery

We created the schematic design for the redevelopment of the initial building within an exceptionally tight deadline. As the project progressed, we provided expert input for areas including acoustics, fire prevention and mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering (MEP). Most important was our ability to see where our support and advice was required throughout design and execution so we could step in to raise quality standards and introduce improvements.

Smart campus supports agile, flexible working

To help our client meet its ambitions, we introduced concepts of the Smart Campus and Fitwel. The Smart Campus uses technology and software to unite mobile and physical environments, while Fitwel is a certification system for healthy buildings, supporting wellbeing and sustainability. Our approach starts with customer objectives and we translate these into optimal fit-for-purpose solutions for the accommodation as well as the technology. In this way we ensure maximum impact for users and business results.

To ensure smart solutions introduced on campus would meet the needs of users, we brought together stakeholders to explore how the technology could support flexible working and increase comfort, ultimately boosting productivity. The smart solutions are also helpful for activity-based work areas, where employees are encouraged to interact, make healthy choices and exercise during the day.

What stands out in this project has been the wide range of consultants provided across so many areas of expertise. This, together with the value delivered by our proactive approach, has resulted in our involvement growing as the redevelopment programme extends across the campus.
