  • More than 50 buildings obtaining certificates and energy labels
  • Around 15 locations have been assessed to plan sustainability measures that lead to realisation of the Paris Proof ambitions.

Impressive real estate portfolio approach

The 300 buildings, with a combined area of around 500,000m2, were assessed by making clever use of available information. Based on this operational information, it was possible to provide an indicative BREEAM In-Use score and energy label. Next, we recommended measures to raise the sustainability level of the portfolio to Energy label A and a BREEAM In-Use score of Very Good. We assessed these measures on technical and financial feasibility. An on-going programme to implement these measures has resulted in more than 50 buildings obtaining the required certificates and energy labels.

Meeting – and going beyond – regulations

In 2016, our client developed a roadmap to guide the organisation in its sustainability ambitions for its office network. The ambition goes further than certifications and focuses on actual energy (CO2) savings, sustainable generation and phasing out gas across the entire core portfolio.

To convert the ambition and objectives into concrete measures and make choices in relation to the energy roadmap, Royal HaskoningDHV drew up Energy Efficiency Quick Scans for approximately 15 locations. The purpose was to arrive at a plan for each location to implement sustainability packages in a cost-effective manner that enable a step-by-step realisation of the Paris Proof sustainability ambition.

Results

Through sustainability scans, Royal HaskoningDHV assessed more than 300 office locations for our client and has obtained energy labels A and BREEAM In-Use Very Good certificates for more than 50 locations. Furthermore, around 15 locations have been assessed to plan sustainability measures that will lead to the realisation of the Paris Proof ambitions.
