Arctic transit demand study

As ice melts across the Arctic there is increased interest in whether shipping across the top of the world is viable. On behalf of a long-standing client, we undertook a study into one commodity sector to determine potential transit demand and the future need for ice-class vessels and equipment.
FMI delivered this study by drawing upon expertise within Royal HaskoningDHV and outside and by using our proprietarily databases. Royal HaskoningDHV groups in northern Europe and the Far East provided information and assisted us with the primary research for the demand study. Our commercial, shipyard and marine equipment contacts provided additional insight and we used our vessel databases and industry specific literature searches to supplement the primary data. We then incorporated recent proprietary research on vessel operating costs and future demand influences on vessel trading routes.

This is a First Marine International project
