Naval shipbuilding performance monitoring and improvement

A series of destroyers is being built for a Western Navy. At the start of the program, FMI specialists assisted the government program office with cost estimating and provided advice on the shipyard performance levels that could be expected, shipyard processes and practices and construction strategies. We also assisted with the identification and quantification of some of the shipbuilding risks and took part in red team reviews.

As the project progressed we provided independent advice on how to improve shipyard performance and monitored shipyard productivity annually over the life of the program. The output of this work assisted the program office and government develop strategy and helped the shipyards determine performance improvement priorities.

This is a First Marine International project
